Who We Are
A legacy of hope and change driving our bold vision for a better future.
Lydia Action is a Malawian development and humanitarian organisation founded in 2020 as a spawn of Lydia Foundation, a charitable initiative founded in 1998 by Dr. Rachel Nyagondwe Fiedler (then Rachel Banda). Lydia Action is registered with Malawi’s Non-Governmental Organisations Regulatory Authority (NGORA) and is a member of the Malawi Council of Non-Governmental Organizations (CONGOMA).
Lydia Action works with disadvantaged communities to empower the most vulnerable women and children, as well as youth and older people. Its programmes are aimed at promoting and addressing issues concerning women’s economic empowerment, education, employment, agriculture, human rights, emergency response, and climate change.
Who We Are

Despite the country grappling with a hunger crisis due to erratic rainfall distribution during the 2023-2024 rainy season and the lingering effects of the local currency devaluation in November 2023, Lydia Action has in the third quarter of 2024 demonstrated remarkable resilience, adaptability, consistency, and growth in its mission to uplift vulnerable communities in Malawi.

Our Work
We are working in three districts across all three regions of Malawi;
Rumphi in the Northern Region, Lilongwe in the central region and Zomba in the southern region where we are implementing our flagship project with the European Baptist Mission (EBM Project).
What we hope to see:

The livelihood of women is improved by providing access to technical and financial opportunities to support their income generation activities.

Children are empowered through educational support and provision of psycho-social needs.

Women, children including other vulnerable people affected by sudden emergency onsets are provided with the appropriate assistance.

Young university students are empowered through skills development and non-profit management knowledge and experience.
